Cover Art on "We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselv
Hey there,
I was wondering if anyone could give me the name of the artist who did the album cover for "We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves"? I'd love to buy a print or a poster if they're being sold..
Best,
Max

there's a nice double-sided poster...don't know if it's "authentic" though.

rom the beginning, he's been an artist fascinated by the parameters, paradoxes, and possibilities of pop. Earlier this year, Maus took a walk through New York's Central Park Zoo with a journalist from Self-Titled. "I didn't realize that the music I was making was especially weird," he says in the piece. "Honestly, I thought I was making Top 40 kind of stuff. Rather than entertaining the philosophical outlook of Alain Badiou with a more assertive slant, or producing an album encircling Fifteen Theses on Contemporary Art, John Maus strives to imagine an impossible dialogue between the two. With a backdrop of modern philosophy, his new album decorates cute ideas of love and Utopia, employing techniques familiar to Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti where the pursuit of experimentation takes place under a canopy of pop music.

I saw the original for the cover-art at a fleemarket in Stockholm this summer.

Who made that picture??? If it's by you, it's pretty great.
Unfortunately, I don't think anyone on here knows who made the artwork for Songs.

George Grie is the artist. i saw the image while investigating the idea - flat earth. i think it would be a good counter-part to the album cover. if the themes from 'keep pushing on', 'cop killer', 'we can break through', .. were pushed, if the lighthouse served to offer the one 'breaking through' or 'pushing on' a guiding light to look or track back... maybe past the wall is an edge, maybe there's something under the edge.AppTrans wrote:Who made that picture??? I recently found this. Don't ask me how. I almost blew up (I found it at work and literally could not contain myself).
