Just found a new Ariel song that was released yesterday that is supposedly going to be on an album called “Archevil” that is coming out this year.

Full track list for the album is posted at the bottom of the page. Is this really new or did I just miss the announcement?

I do quite like the idea of it being set to read-only as a compromise for history's sake (although perhaps it's a blessing in disguise to have all my 14-year old posts deleted, haha!). I'm very disappointed in all of this fuss about Ariel's politics not because I want to pretend it doesn't exist, but I think by making it such a big deal, everyone's giving him more power over themselves than he deserves. I'm much happier keeping Ariel's politics as the ramblings of some crazy artist who makes great music. There's a reason they say "never meet your heroes". And here's something REALLY crazy: I don't see Ariel being a moron as nullifying the good he's taught me either. When I found his music, it taught me about being myself and all that sappy BS, but I was really touched by the fact that he's not a retro act. Ariel makes music influenced by the past, sure, but it's never a throwback. Ariel's living in the present, but making the life he wants of it. I don't see Ariel supporting the capitol coup as nullifying that. Suda51 once said something like "The story of my games is actually the least important part. What happens in the story, a list of plot points, that's not nearly as important as how those moments make you feel. What they say to you". Music is a similar way to me. The South Park episode where they tell George Lucas that his films are our property just as much as his comes to mind as well.
Thanks for the confirmation. I had a hunch it was just set to private, seeing as when you access threads from the Ariel forum via google search results, it just says you're not authorized to view it, as opposed to a 404 or something.

I'm not really sure what to think of Ariel as a person. The allegations against him from his ex-gf are repulsive, if true. I don't know enough about either him or his ex to definitively make a statement there, so I won't say anything more about it. Concerning his politics, I kinda played up the "shitty person" angle there. I've seen people calling him a nationalist and a fascist... I don't think he is a nationalist or fascist or anything like that. The word "fascist" conjures up some intimidating imagery, and I think it oversells Ariel's power and influence by a long shot. It just seems like overkill to use such a strong word on such a small target. His recent interviews seem very frantic and addle-minded. I think there might be something wrong with him and I'm honestly sort of concerned for his mental wellbeing. On the other hand, I'm a pretty recent fan, so I'm sure other people know more than I do. Maybe someone can prove me wrong, but that's just what it seems like to me. I hope he can get help. And yeah, no matter what Ariel thinks in terms of politics, he's still a genius musically. I feel like he has a lot of interesting insight on music, not only on creating it but on discovering it and getting the most out of it as well.

I heard that "Archevil" was the bonus cassette you could get by preordering Ariel Archives stuff through certain websites. Apparently he's been sending people a google drive link to the songs. I don't have the link, unfortunately.

Like myself, they are nonconformists and I applaud them for having the courage to stand up for their perspectives. Skimming through the comments has not inspired me to contribute further at the moment.

I don't like everything about Trump's personality and sentiments, but I agreed with his goal of putting the interests of America first, particularly of working men and women, with a focus on security and prosperity. It is undeniable that his administration accomplished a long and impressive list of things for all of us despite unprecedented obstruction from his political opponents and unrelenting negative press. Russia collusion claim based on a fake dossier, impeachment for looking into Biden's quid pro quo with the Ukraine, accusations of racism for supporting border security and enforcement of our immigration laws. He took the job knowing the political establishment and news media would try to make life hell for him and his family. He had called out politicians on both sides for betraying the People, claimed he could do a better job, then showed them up with a huge list of economic records, improved trade deals, peace deals, drawdown of overseas troops, repatriation of manufacturing, opportunity zones, criminal justice reform, better care for our vets, right to try, U.S. embassy in Jerusalem, NATO members meeting their defense obligations, lowered drug prices (first in 51 years), strengthened border security. The way he and his supporters are treated by some of those who run our government, news media, education system, entertainment industry, internet/video search, and social media is absolutely unjustified. Their behavior made me more supportive of Trump than I ever would have been. I see through the B.S. and it is nice that John and Ariel appear to as well.

When you believe you have a stronger position, you don't have to aim to remove the ability of those with opposing viewpoints to engage in debate--you welcome it. Do not bow to pressure from individuals and/or groups to shut down the free exchange of ideas. Keep in mind that most people have good intentions but have received one-sided information from biased sources, intentionally designed to make us angry at the supposed other side.

hi guys, i'm new to this forum (can't believe i haven't heard of it before!) and i'm pretty late to discussing all of the shenanigans from this month, so i hate to potentially dig it up again, but it's nice to see there's a community of people who are similarly confused and gutted by this... like many of you, i've had a long, emotional journey with john's work and his reputation as a smart, passionate, and genuinely nice guy just checked all the boxes for me. this capitol stuff has been embarrassingly devastating. i admittedly keep trying to rationalize and ignore this, but it's kind of too hard now with all of the twitter and FEC stuff. i guess we'll have to wait until he says something. at least i have my box set ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
