LadyLazarus wrote:'Furry fandom' is a legitimate subculture which is host to its own social conventions, genre fanzines and online communities. It doesn't have to be a rodent, RareGoat. In fact, any fluffy anthropomorphic costume is probably acceptable. Generally the emphasis is on fictional characters, however. Just a bit of friendly role-playing. Then there are the fur piles. I'm no expert, (and I don't think the sexuality is always an aspect of this fandom) but I find sexual fetishes pretty fascinating.
Maybe Patch can elaborate more.

It was something along the lines of, "This 'Frank James' did a great show last night, but I wish there were more star trek uniforms in the crowd."
It would be a lot of fun, I think! But not all the time of course. Maybe just one once, for halloween or something.
I saw those tweets! I remember reading that him and video/multi-media artiste extraordinaire Jennifer Juniper Stratford forged their friendship based on a conversation about who their favorite Enterprise captain was. I am dying to know who John's favorite is (should have been my question for his reddit AMA). My money is on Picard (bold, charismatic, kind. yet with a solitary side that means he can't play cards with the rest of the crew), but I could be wrong!
I was sad to see that John deleted all of those great quotes he had up on twitter, too. I think there was some Paul Celan among them, but I can't remember exactly now.
I like John even more if he's way into Star Trek Costumes are so fun!!
This week, someone asked me... "Patch, why are you dressed like Liberace?" - I guess the sparkly cape with the heart on it took me over that line. Well, it was just such a good match with the rest of my furry suit!
At this point I can't decide if you are just delightfully eccentric or a benign internet troll!
I'm inclined to give you the benefit of the doubt in this case, and I suppose it doesn't matter much because your posts still amuse me. This sparkly Liberace cape sounds like a must-see, though. Photos required.

That's a great guess! I think I remember seeing an interview with John, and he's paraphrasing a quote by Picard, from 'First Contact.'
"The economics of the future is somewhat different. You see, money doesn't exist in the 24th century... The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in our lives. We work to better ourselves and the rest of humanity." - Captain JLP
