BTW, the secret to get higher dynamic range on shows is to set colors to "flat". Meaning, putting sharpness, contrast and saturation to their lowest setting. This will give a "film-like" quality to the video. All Canon digicams support these three options under their Colors menu, and I think that some other manufacturers do too, but not all.
