The Scala show is a week from today! I will be getting on that train to Londontown flying high on excitement. I'll be sure to take lots of photos and videos for my friends here.

I'm jealous again, Ricky. I'm sure John will still pulverise that festival. I fanstasise about him coming to New York again when I'm over in February for my birthday. I want a John Maus birthday extravaganza.

Well this is it! Packing my bags for my 11:45 train to Londinium. I hope John gets the opportunity to enjoy this fine English weather before the gig.

I did get to meet him and was completely blown away by what a nice guy he is. Spotted him at the box office (as I arrived very early) and didn't even get the chance to contemplate approaching him before he came right out into the street to say hi and have a chat because he liked my t-shirt (I made my own Maus 4 Prez ringer tee on zazzle). Contrary to what some may think (daunted by all his lofty philosophical references perhaps), he is the most natural, affable, and least pretentious person you could talk to. He asked if we'd been to the museum and seen all the Greek stuff. We talked about Ribbon (seems he thinks they're mostly after the money with their release of Rarities, but I had to insist that I loved that CD like all the others). Twice he asked, "How do you KNOW that??" and I had to reply that I was on mausspace and that we know everything here. He seemed genuinely interested to know my opinion of the show and went to the corner Tescos to 'get hydrated.' Said hi again on his way back in and 'I'll talk to you guys later,' which he did as we got to meet him again after the show. I thanked him and told him it was the most sincere performance I've ever seen. He seemed happy with that. John Maus: Lovely man.

John is a great guy for sure, as mentioned elsewhere - I'm thankful that the guy whose music appeals is a genuinely good guy, and not some arrogant rockstar type.
